Aliento Fanfare

Aliento Fanfare was composed in 2020 in tribute to the hospital workers during the COVID-19 pandemic. The word Aliento means breath in Spanish. In many cities and towns around the world at the beginning of the pandemic in March 2020, hospital workers were cheered every night at 7:00 PM by the people who were locked down in quarantine. At this time especially, hospital workers were called on to help everybody through the pandemic. The instrumentation is either for orchestral brass and percussion – 3 trumpets, 4 horns, 2 trombones, bass trombone, tuba, timpani, timpani, percussion (3 players) snare drum, bass drum, cymbals orchestra bells or brass ensemble with percussion – 4 trumpets, 4 horns, 2 trombones, bass trombone, euphonium, tuba, timpani, percussion (4 players) snare drum, bass drum, cymbals, orchestra bells, vibraphone.
