Variations on the Twelve Days of Christmas was composed in 2024 for Bob Powers and the Naples Brass. The Naples Brass has a tradition of performing several annual Christmas concerts in the Naples, FL area. “The Twelve Days of Christmas” is an English Christmas Carol whose words were first published in England in the late eighteenth century. A large number of different melodies have been associated with the song, of which the best known is derived from a 1909 arrangement of a traditional folk melody by English composer Frederic Austin. This set of variations goes through several keys and styles including Cantable (or singing style), Mozart style, German Waltz (Hofbrau Time), Church Time, Swing, Rock Style, Funk Rock, Fast Swing (cool), Moderato, Grandioso and Allegro molto.
