London Overture was composed especially for the London Symphony Orchestra recording February 2024. It is a programmatic depiction of the city of London with many of its various districts, characteristics and moods. After a very short introduction, the listener hears the hustle and bustle of the center of the business district, with the crowded streets of people rushing around in all directions, the traffic – sometimes moving and sometimes stopping suddenly. Then walking through a more tranquil and “cool” area of the city, depicted by the horns then cellos and violas. A brass fanfare announces the arrival to the area of Buckingham Palace, with all the pomp and circumstance. We then go to an old distinguished area with centuries old architecture. The excursion continues through one of the word’s most diverse and exciting cities continues through the end of the overture.
